Nightmare

Go to sleep, awake in fear,
cry and sob, scream in tears.
There's no sanctuary, the flames are lit,
there is no peace, I cannot find it.

You are there, I cannot hide,
you tore me apart, I'm burnt on the inside.
Such playful words you would say,
what kind of game did you play?

You haunt my dreams, casting me a grin,
chills run down my spine, knowing the situation I'm in.
I could scream for help, but no one would hear,
God save my soul, insanity drawing near.

Is it real, or is it fake,
I now know the horror of my mistake.
I'm tortured now, no peace within sleep,
you're always there, making me wake with a shriek.

Will you kill me this time or torment me again?
If you're going to do it, I wish I knew when.
I've fought and lost within my sleep,
Falling to the group in a crumpled heap.

Awake in horror, the pain is still there,
cry in silence, with no one to care.
